These terms govern use of the Starwell websites, API, and MCP server, operated by Datastam (Blue Green Yellow Inc., Toronto, Canada). Using the service means you accept them. Questions: hello@datastam.com.

The service

Starwell serves official statistics ingested from public sources, with provenance on every observation, a verification status on every series, and computed answers cited to the official source table. During the preview period the service is provided free within published rate limits, and paid tiers with API keys may be introduced with notice.

What we promise, precisely

Our claim is narrow and stated everywhere: answers computed from verified official data, cited to the source table. Verification means our published golden-value and freshness checks against the live official source. We do not claim to eliminate model errors, and the service is not financial, investment, legal, or policy advice. Official sources revise their data; verification statuses and revision history exist so you can see exactly what we serve and when it changed.

Data licensing and attribution

Every series carries its license and attribution in API responses. The data remains subject to its source terms: United States federal statistical works are public domain; Statistics Canada data is used under the Statistics Canada Open Licence; World Bank data under CC BY-4.0. This product uses the FRED API but is not endorsed or certified by the Federal Reserve Bank of St. Louis. When you republish data obtained through Starwell, you must preserve the source attribution we provide.

Acceptable use

Respect published rate limits and quotas; do not circumvent them, share keys, or probe the service for vulnerabilities outside a coordinated disclosure.
Do not misrepresent Starwell output as endorsed by any statistical agency.
Do not use the service to violate law or the underlying sources' terms.

We may suspend access that breaks these rules, and may throttle or adjust free-tier limits to protect the service.

Warranty and liability

The preview service is provided as is, without warranties of any kind, express or implied. To the maximum extent permitted by law, Datastam's total liability for any claim arising from the preview service is limited to the amount you paid for it in the preceding three months, which for the free preview is zero. Contractual accuracy commitments and service levels are available in paid agreements when those launch.

Changes and termination

We may update these terms; the date above changes when we do, and material changes are announced to registered users. You may stop using the service at any time; on request we delete your waitlist data and revoke your keys per the privacy policy.

Governing law

These terms are governed by the laws of the Province of Ontario and the federal laws of Canada applicable in it.
